Users of this mode of transportation are reminded there are rules to follow and common sense should prevail to avoid a tragic accident. Roller bladers are subject to regulations that pertain to pedestrians.

Section 160
- No driver of a vehicle shall permit any person riding upon a bicycle, coaster, roller skates, skis, toboggan, sled or toy vehicle to attach the same, himself or herself to the vehicle.

Section 178(1)
- A person riding upon a motor assisted bicycle, bicycle, coaster, roller skates, skis, toboggan, sled or toy vehicle shall not attach it, them, himself or herself to a vehicle or street car on a roadway.

Section 179(1)
- Where sidewalks are not provided on a highway, a pedestrian walking along the highway shall walk on the left side thereof facing oncoming traffic and, when walking along on the roadway shall walk as close to the left edge thereof as possible.

In addition, the Dryden Police Service suggests the following guidelines to ensure safety:
Travel in single file.
Avoid high traffic areas.
Wear an approved helmet and other protective gear.
Wear reflective clothing.
Use common sense at all times.

Roller bladers are classified as pedestrians and must obey all the rules and safety guidelines in place for pedestrian traffic upon a roadway.
