The Financial Information Return (FIR) is a data collection tool used by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing to collect both financial and statistical information on municipalities of Ontario. This standardized document is comprised of a number of schedules which are updated each year to reflect any changes in current legislation and reporting requirements. The FIR allows comparisons between municipalities based on specific criteria.
