Learn Not to Burn

Sparky

Learn Not To Burn is a comprehensive public fire safety education program developed by the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association). This program presents fire safety information in a positive, non-threatening manner. Learn Not To Burn includes songs, stories, puppets, games and other activities to teach fire safety behaviors (eg. Stop, Drop, and Roll; and crawl low under smoke) in a way that children can understand and remember.

Learn Not To Burn was introduced into Dryden and area schools in 1992, and has proven to be a great success. The Dryden Fire Service has received several letters from parents and caregivers over the years, which tell of children who have used the fire safety behaviours from this program at home to avoid potential fires, and to react fast in real fire situations.
