Camping Etiquette and Rules

Camping Etiquette Respect the peace and quiet of the campground. Noise can travel a considerable distance in the woods and across water. Radios and stereos (e.g. CD or MP3 players, iPods) should be audible only on your site. Do not make any excessive noise at any time.
Build camp fires in designated areas and please do not damage or remove any, dead or alive, vegetation.
Please keep your pets on a leash at all times, and keep them off the beach and comfort station areas for sanitary reasons.
Leave your campsite clean and use the central garbage deposit and recycle bins. Together we can protect the park's natural beauty and encourage the bears to stay out of the campground!
Watch your children, especially at the beach. The beach area is not supervised or patrolled.
Camping Rules We respectfully ask for your cooperation in helping to manage activities in the campground.
Please register your vehicle and campsite at the Park Gatehouse or at the self-serve fee station upon entry to the park. Display your valid vehicle permit at all times. Pre-register by 11:00 a.m. so your campsite is not reassigned to other park visitors. On the day of your departure please vacate your campsite by 2:00 p.m. You are welcome to stay the remainder of the day in the day use area.
Campsites are limited to 6 persons or one single family group (parents and children). There is a limit of 3 pieces of shelter equipment per campsite. Additional vehicle permits can be purchased if there is more than one vehicle per campsite party. Additional vehicle parking locations are shown on the Park Map. Alcoholic beverages are allowed only on a registered campsite. Don't forget that the park is closed to day visitors from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
Recycling We are participating in the Regional Recycling Program and ask for your support.
Laundry Laundry facilities are available at the comfort station.
Firewood Firewood is available for sale at the Gate House. During off hours, wood can be obtained from park staff.
Pay Phone The pay phone is located at the Gate House.
Bear Sense Black bears are found in all provincial parks in northern Ontario. Their diet usually consists of plants, berries, insects, leaves, grasses and occasionally carrion and fish. Black bears are generally shy animals that avoid people; however, their behaviour can be unpredictable and potentially dangerous!
If you feed a bear, or a bear locates garbage that you have left behind, it may come to associate people with food. Bears that have made this association are apt to be bold and possibly aggressive. Their behaviour may cause harm to you or other campers and may eventually necessitate the killing of the bear. Please don't contribute to the needless destruction of this magnificent animal.
Remember to prevent bear problems by following these rules: - Keep your campsite clean! - Never store food in your tent. - Clean fish in the fish cleaning hut. - Store all food in sealed containers and/or in the trunk of your car. - Put your garbage in the central garbage stations on a regular basis. - Keep your pets under control.
