Monday, January 4th, 2010 – Cheer on the Olympic Flame along King Street and Van Horne Avenue. Join the Community Celebration at Van Horne Landing (south end of Van Horne Avenue near the Ice Road)

Olympic Torch Relay
• Line the route – Cheer on the Torchbearers
• Begins downtown on King Street with the first Torchbearer at 2:34 PM
• Turns right onto Van Horne Avenue and travels to Van Horne Landing

Dryden’s Community Celebration
• Celebrate the arrival of the Olympic Flame and lighting of the cauldron
• Van Horne Landing (south end of Van Horne Avenue near the Ice Road)
• 2:00 to 4:00 PM
• Free admission; Free Bannock and Hot Chocolate
• Entertainment by Chicomahgiz, Dryden Zirca Dancers, The Chancellors, Erik Bleich, The Kellars, McIvor Brothers, Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation Dance Troop, Pass the Pineapple, Sioux Lookout Community Choir, and others
• Interactive displays and giveaways by sponsors, Coca-Cola and RBC
• Journey through the past 100 years with the creativity of area students
• Come dressed to enjoy the Snow and Ice, but there will be a warm-up tent

Park and Ride
• Free shuttle bus to and from Van Horne Landing
• Shuttle buses depart from 12:30 to 2:00 PM on a load-and-go basis
• Shuttle buses run from Dryden Recreation Complex (84 Whyte Avenue) and IGA Garden Market (303 Government Street)
• Shuttle buses return after the event
• There will be very limited bus service between 2:15 and 4:15 PM
• Accessible transportation provided by Handi Transit - reserve in advance

Parking
• Limited parking (approximately 250 vehicles) – please plan accordingly
• Drop off point for people with disabilities
• Parking available for buses

Road Closures
• During the Olympic Torch Relay, rolling road closures will be in
effect along the route. Expect traffic delays
• Please expect traffic delays on the Ice Road
• Please expect traffic delays and stops in the underpass between 2:15 PM and 2:45 PM
