The City of Dryden Official Plan

Take Notice that the Council of the City of Dryden enacted By-law No. 3970-2012 on June 18th 2012 to adopt a new Official Plan for the City of Dryden under Section 17(22) of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.P.13, as amended,

Purpose and Effect of the Official Plan

The new Official Plan replaces the current Official Plan (2002), and all previous Official Plan Amendments. The Plan also updates the current planning policies to be consistent with the Provincial Policy Statement (2005) and implements the Growth Plan for Northern Ontario.

The Plan establishes policies that direct new growth to the Stable Areas which will accommodate residential, commercial, industrial and institutional growth and designates sufficient land for new residential and employment uses to accommodate the City’s projected needs to the year 2031. Residential growth will be encouraged to include range of densities in a variety of housing formats. The Plan establishes guidelines for the preservation of cultural and built heritage resources to reflect the cultural identity and character of the City. The Plan establishes policies for shoreline development to ensure the protection of the Lakes and shoreline environments. It also establishes a continuous natural heritage system throughout the City to preserve ecological functions and features as well as providing open space.

No key map is provided as the Official Plan affects all lands within the City of Dryden.

Approval

The Official Plan as adopted will be sent to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing for approval pursuant to subsection 17(22) of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.P.13, as amended. The Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing may approve, modify and approve or refuse to approve, all or part of the City of Dryden Official Plan.

Once the Notice of Decision on this Official Plan is given by the Minister, if you have objections to this City of Dryden Official Plan you may file with the Minister within the time specified in the notice of decision, a notice of appeal to the Ontario Municipal Board.

1. Any person or public body will be entitled to receive notice of the decision of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing if a written request to be notified of the decision, including name and address is made to:

2. If a person or public body did not make oral submissions at the public meeting or make written submissions to the City of Dryden, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing on the Official Plan for the City of Dryden.

3. If a person or public body did not make a written request to the Clerk of the Municipality or the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing for Notice of the Minister’s decision regarding the Official Plan for the City of Dryden, 2012 as adopted, such Notice may not be provided to them.

4. If a person or public body has not made oral submissions at the public meeting or made written submissions to the City of Dryden before the Official Plan for the City of Dryden, 2012 was adopted, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Municipal Board unless, in the opinion of the Board, there are reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party.
