DRYDEN, ONTARIO

Agreement in principle for sale of Dryden Mobility Customer Assets to Tbaytel
At a Special Closed Council meeting on September 19, 2012, City Council received a detailed offer from Tbaytel for the purchase of Dryden Mobility customer assets and has agreed in principle to the sale. Council is also considering a separate offer from Bell Aliant for the purchase of DMTS’s Landline and Internet assets.
Council has directed that the next step in the process is to schedule a public meeting for 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Dryden Regional Training and Cultural Centre where residents and Dryden Mobility customers will be able to get more details on the offer received from Tbaytel.
Mayor Craig Nuttall says, “It makes good business sense to consider the offer from Tbaytel and its potential benefits to the City of Dryden and Dryden Mobility Customers. Dryden Mobility has been a great asset to the City of Dryden but now is the time to consider what is best for its future in light of increased competition and technological changes in the telecommunications sector.”
“Tbaytel’s offer to purchase the customer assets of Dryden Mobility will provide customers with access to coverage, handsets, price plans and features that they previously did not have access to.” said Tbaytel President and CEO Don Campbell. “Our goal will be to ensure a seamless customer transition to our services.”
The transaction is subject to final approval by the City during a Special Open Council meeting to be scheduled at a later date. Once authorized, closing will be subject to customary terms and conditions, including regulatory approvals from Industry Canada.
