The Facilities Management Department is responsible for coordinating and carrying out the maintenance and repair of all City facilities and contracting services where necessary, and to a lesser degree, is involved in facilities renovations and facilities procurement. The department is also responsible for the maintenance and repair of traffic lights and some street lighting.
The department endeavors to fulfill its responsibilities using City employees and resources to carry out the work. Where necessary, services are contracted out to the private sector in such areas as janitorial services, fire protection equipment inspections, elevator inspections; and in some cases for routine maintenance and repairs to facilities when demands surpass the capabilities of available City resources.
The Facilities Management office is located in the Public Works Building, 159 King Street, and hours of operation are 8:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M.
