New Online Directory Needs Business Community Support
New Online Directory Needs Business Community Support
April 20, 2011 – Dryden The Dryden Development Corporation (DDC) in partnership with the Northwest Business Centre (NWBiz) has recently established a new online business directory for the City of Dryden and surrounding area. Creating a user-friendly online business directory will assist with economic development and business retention and expansion initiatives. The directory will provide visitors to the area with information on places to eat, stay, and explore. Businesses, consumers and investors will be able to find products and services they need quickly and easily through a customizable search feature in the directory.

The self-maintained online directory has improved business listings offering features such as:

  • driving directions,
  • share contact information form,
  • up to 800 characters of searchable keywords,
  • customizable marketing messages,
  • images, logos, amenities, and
  • website/ social networking links (ie. LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube and Facebook).

The online directory offers businesses another way to stand out and promote goods and services.

“Equally important, is the economic development information tab in the directory’s administrative backend that will help the DDC create valuable reports on Dryden and the surrounding area’s industry and business sectors to assist in attracting new investment to our area” stated Vicki Kurz, Economic Development Manager. Kurz goes on to say that “all information provided such as the annual sales category will remain confidential”.

New businesses and those not already listed can request a no cost listing online by clicking www.ylm.ca/ylm/ylm_home.aspx?f=dryden and choosing “Add Business” from the top menu. Watch the mail for your letter! Each business has a personalized administrator login and password and updating is as easy as point, type, click, and save.

An initial presentation was recently held during the Dryden District Chamber of Commerce April general meeting. Chamber members are identified in the directory with the Chamber logo and will also feature in their unique directory to be linked from the Chamber web site.

Future presentations on the business directory’s features and how to upload information will take place and an open house are planned for Fri, April 29, 1-4pm Enterprise Dryden, 33 Colonization Ave, Unit#2, and Tue, May 3, 4:30pm or 6:30pm Fire Hall, 189 Colonization Ave. Attendees are welcome to bring a laptop (Wi-Fi capable) to either presentation. Hands-on assistance will be offered during our open house on April 29th. Once 2/3rds populated with business information, the database can be launched live on www.ExploreDryden.ca. For specific information and troubleshooting please contact Nicole Gale, Business Administrator at Enterprise Dryden (807) 223-1158 or email her at ngale@dryden.ca.
