City of Dryden Announces Water and Sewer Billing Rate Adjustment
DRYDEN, ON – December 13, 2023 – At the December 11th City Council meeting, the City of Dryden approved a 6.3% increase to the water and sewer billing rates, effective December 29, 2023. This decision is part of the City's strategic initiative to build a financially sustainable foundation for the maintenance and replacement of crucial water and sewer assets.
The rate adjustment is a measured step towards enhancing the City's ability to contribute to the water and sewer reserves. This strategic move is essential to ensure that the City can proactively replace aging infrastructure, guaranteeing the continued delivery of high-quality services to our residents.
"The decision to adjust water and sewer billing rates is driven by our commitment to the long-term health and sustainability of our community's essential infrastructure," stated Mayor Jack Harrison. "By gradually increasing our contributions to the reserves, we aim to create a solid financial base that will support timely replacements and upgrades, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our water and sewer systems."
The 6.3% increase, effective December 29, 2023, aligns with the City’s Waterworks Long-Range Financial Plan which was approved by Council in 2020 and reflects a careful balance between addressing the financial needs of the City and minimizing the impact on our residents. The City of Dryden remains dedicated to open communication and transparency, and we encourage residents to reach out with any questions or concerns regarding this adjustment.
