Update - Cooper Park Tree Trunks
Last fall, the City of Dryden released a call for expressions of interest to carve two large Eastern Cottonwood tree trunks depicting the cultural and historical significance of their location along the Wabigoon River.
Several years ago, due to safety concerns, the City was required to remove a significant portion of dead branches and heavy crown from these two large trees in Cooper Park. These trees had reached the end of their lifespan and were in visible decline.
We recognize these trees were a beloved by the community, and the City is excited to announce a local artist has been chosen and the project is moving onto the next step. The trunks will soon be removed from the park. This is only temporary for the artist to safely carve and treat the trees to ensure longevity of the carvings. When complete, they will be reinstalled in the park for all to enjoy!
