The EarlyON Child & Family Centre's parent/caregiver workshops and programs help parents and caregivers become more confident with their parenting skills and strengthen their relationships with their children. Parent support may be provided during one-on-one discussions, small group workshops and peer support networks.
Workshops are facilitated (or co-facilitated) by staff, peers and other service providers. Workshops include topics of interest, such as:
- Infant nutrition and baby food making
- Speech and language development
- Dental health and fluoride varnish
- Infant/Child CPR through St. John's Ambulance
Parent Education Series
Our Parent Education Series features a variety of topics and learning opportunities, including:
- Make the Connection: Birth to One
- Make the Connection: One to Two Years - based on current research and sound principles of adult learning, this program combines baby activities, parent discussion and personal video feedback to promote secure attachment, two-way communication and infant/toddler-led learning (6 sessions)
- How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and How to Listen So Kids Will Talk (6 sessions)
- Siblings Without Rivalry (5 sessions)
- Kids Have Stress Too, Positive Discipline (8 sessions)
- Infant Massage (Five-week session for parents of infants up to one year)
- Breast feeding Support and Infant Information (Northwestern Health Unit)
- Parents at Play: Parents have time together to learn through hands-on activities, discussion and making and sharing a meal together
- Positive Discipline: An 8-week program on child development, healthy parent/child relationships and resolving conflicts
