Upcoming Events

Due to COVID-19 the Museum Advisory Board has decided to postponed Keep It Hanging Around until the Fall.

Although this event has been postponed, we are able to accept your unwanted wall art. This can include paintings, prints, photographs, etc. The items must be able to hang on a wall with no significant damage.

We ask that you schedule your donation drop off with Museum staff. Please call 807-223-4671 to arrange a time.

2020

Poster for the after school program Legacy of WarOn Wednesday, January 15th the museum held an after school program: Legacy of War. 
Activities include: making and cracking codes, building your own memorial, and creating your own propaganda poster.

 

2019

During the exhibit "Reflections" featuring artwork by The Dryden Artists' Association, two workshops were held at the museum: Fall into Art and Kids Can Paint!

Poster for PD Day Event: Let's Have Loads of FunDuring the exhibit "Making a Home: Early Women of Dryden", the museum held a PD Day event Let's Have LOADS of Fun with a variety of demonstrations of what was traditonal chores women had to do.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Do you have a collection of paper-based family heirlooms you want preserve?

The Museum held the workshop Museum Secrets: Care and Storage of Family History to teach attendee about the best preservation and storage methods to keep their family history and memories alive. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pop-Up Community Collections Event!

We aren’t the only ones who collect interesting objects. So do you!

Take part in the Museum’s first Pop-Up Community Collections Event, on Saturday, March 9th, where you share objects you collect.

We will set-up spaces in the Museum’s gallery, so you can share some of your history with visitors.

We invite you to bring a sample of your favourite collection whether they’re items that are nostalgic, intriguing or simply funny. Tell us why these items are important to you and how you’ve collected them.

Whimsical Winter Crafts during Winterfest!

Visit the Dryden & District Museum on Saturday, February 16th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm for our Winterfest Event: Whimsical Winter Crafts! 
Stop by the Museum to make snowflake wands, ice crystal paintings, explore our arctic sensory bin, and more!

 

On Saturday, January 26th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm the Museum hosted a spinning wheel and drop spindle demonstration with Michelle from Egli's Sheep Farm.

Hot Cocoa and Cookies to celebrate the Museum's renovation!

You're invited to a hot cocoa and cookies reception at the Dryden & District Museum on Saturday, December 15th, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for Fibre Content 2018 and our recent renovations in the Leah Gardner Gallery.

 

Poster for the 30th anniversary eventThis year, the Dryden & District Museum is proudly celebrating their 30th Anniversary being housed in the historic Hambleton House, located at 15 Van Horne Avenue. To celebrate this occasion, the museum will be hosting an anniversary event on Saturday, June 30th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

There will be pioneer themed games such as pillow sack races, bean bag toss, giant board games and a Museum Scavenger Hunt at the event! Refreshments will be provided and the The Black Oven Food Truck and the Dryden Lions Hot Dog cart will be at the museum.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Keep It Hanging Around

The museum is currently accepting donations for the third Keep It Hanging Around. The fundraising event will run from Monday, April 23rd to Saturday, April 28th, 2018.

Bidding will close at noon of Saturday, April 28th, 2018.

The daily highest bids for the Museum's "Keep It Hanging Around" will be updated every morning the day after bidding, online and on Facebook. Before bidding, please review the fundraiser's How to Bid Form.

Scouts Canada: Live on Location Poster for the event Scouts Canada: Live on Location with date and time and a photo of Dryden Wolf Cubs in 1949.

Scouts from the Kenkee & Manitoba Council will be hosting this FREE event on Saturday, February 17th at the Museum for Winter Festival! You can also see the exhibit “Be Prepared: Scouts & Guides”, on display until Thursday, February 22nd.

Drop in from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm to ask questions about Scouts Canada’s brand-new youth led program, titled “Canadian Path”, enjoy a complimentary cup of hot chocolate and complete a take home craft. There will be activities ranging from winter camping safety, crafts, bannock making, and learning about how you can bring a Scouting troop to Dryden. Please dress weather appropriate, due to the activities taking place outdoors.

 

Schedule of Activities:

1:00 pm outdoor campsite - Enjoy winter workshop - learn how to dress for the weather and enjoy year round camping

1:30 pm parent information session (indoors) - learn about our programs and how to bring scouting to your community

2:00 pm outdoor campsite - hot chocolate, campfire & bannock making

3:00 pm parent information session (indoors)

1:00 pm – 3:30 pm craft station - make your own zipper pull
