2026 Municipal Election Notice of Nominations for Office
May 1, 2026 to August 21, 2026
Notice is hereby given to the Municipal Electors of The City of Dryden that Nomination Papers for the 2026 Municipal Election may be filed in person or by an agent with the Returning Officer as of Monday, May 1, 2026 up to Thursday, August 20, 2026 at the Clerk’s Office between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and on Nomination Day, Friday, August 21, 2026 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Please contact the Returning Officer/City Clerk to book an appointment to submit Nomination Papers or to discuss any questions; walk-in appointments are not guaranteed.
The required fee for a Member of Council or School Board Trustee is $100.00 and the required fee for the Head of Council is $200.00. The required fee shall be in the form of cash, debit card, a certified cheque or money order made payable to the City of Dryden and must accompany the signed Nomination Paper. (Credit Card payment will not be accepted.)
There is requirement that each Nomination Paper (excluding School Board Trustee candidates) must be endorsed by 25 eligible voters supporting the nomination. Those individuals who endorse a candidate will also have to sign a declaration that they are eligible to vote in this municipality on the day they provide the endorsement. (Electors can endorse more than one nomination.) Campaigning may begin once the candidate files their Nomination Papers.
A Nomination Paper must be certified by the Municipal Clerk/Returning Officer before such person becomes a candidate for office. Certification occurs after Nomination Day, Friday, August 21, 2026. A Nomination Paper must be filed prior to accepting campaign contributions or incurring expenses.
Campaigning is prohibited prior to filing Nominations Papers.
You are entitled to be an elector and to run for office if you are not disqualified by any Act or Law and on voting day if you are:

- a resident of the City of Dryden; or,
- a non-resident who is an owner or tenant of land in the City or the spouse of or same sex partner of such an owner or tenant;
- a Canadian citizen; and,
- of the full age of 18 years.

English Public - Keewatin-Patricia District School Board (1)
English Separate - The Northwest Catholic District School Board (2) French Public - Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l'Ontario (1)
French Separate - Conseil scolaire de district catholique des Aurores Boréales (1)
A candidate for School Board Trustee must be:
• a resident of the area of jurisdiction of the School Board;
• a Canadian Citizen; and
• at least 18 years of age.
