Northwestern Health Unit (NWHU) is the public health unit serving part of the Kenora district and the entire Rainy River district. The Northwestern Health Unit provides a wide range of programs and services that support the health and well-being of our community at every stage of life. Services include immunizations, dental health, prenatal and parenting supports, child development programs, mental health and substance use prevention, sexual health services, and supports for healthy eating and active living. The Health Unit also protects public health through food safety inspections, safe drinking and recreational water monitoring, environmental health protection, infection prevention, emergency preparedness, and harm reduction initiatives. Together, these services help keep our community safe, healthy, and resilient.
