Transitioning to the Ontario Provincial Police

On October 28, 2021 the Ontario Civilian Police Commission approved the City of Dryden’s application to disband the Dryden Police Service. Dryden transitioned to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) as of 12 noon on Thursday, February 24, 2022.

What You Need to Know

Business hours of the Dryden OPP Detachment are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For after-hours police matters, please call the OPP Communications Centre at 1-888-310-1122 (toll free in Ontario). For after-hours administrative purposes, please call the detachment office at (807-937-5577) and leave a message.

For emergency matters, please call 9-1-1.
For non-emergency matters, such as filing a report, please call the OPP Communications Centre at 1-888-310-1122 (toll free in Ontario).
If you need to make a complaint about traffic issues, please contact the OPP Communications Centre (1-888-310-1122) to file a report. The OPP creates occurrences for each complaint which helps track areas of high complaints and coordinates effective enforcement.
To report a crime using the OPP online reporting tool, please visit opp.ca/reporting. This can be used for lost/missing property, stolen license plates or validation stickers, theft from a vehicle, mischief to a vehicle, other mischief (such as graffiti), theft or driving complaints where there are no suspects, no injuries and no evidence.

During business hours, please call the Dryden OPP Detachment at 807-937-5577 for information related to administrative issues (collision reports, incident reports, volunteer fingerprints, Freedom of Information requests).

Police Services Board

The Dryden Police Services Board existed under the Police Services Act, 1990 which was replaced by the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019 on April 1, 2024. The local Police Board is now the Dryden OPP Detachment Board 1.
